Saturday January 5th - Campbell River Eagle Festival Update
We're looking pretty good for event volunteers, except in the children's activities.
Today I posted ads for face-painters and / or children's activity workers on the Valley Links and Campbell River Volunteer web sites.
If you know anyone who is experienced in volunteering with kids, and who wants to get kids excited about raptors and the environment, please ask them to contact MARS.
For those who plan to attend, a reminder that we're having an Eagle Festival planning meeting at MARS on January 13th at 1:00 pm.

February 23rd Eagle Fest - Calling All Volunteers
Last night (December 3rd) we had a fund-raising meeting where one of the subjects discussed was the 2013 Eagle Fest in Campbell River. It's one of our biggest fund raising events; matched only by Logger Sports for volunteer intensity.
The planning is very early stage, but once the Christmas / New Year dust settles February and Eagle Fest will swoop in like ... well like an eagle!
There's a lot of planning, preparation and event implementation that will depend on the skill and leadership of our multi-faceted volunteers. Here's a few of areas where we need your help. There will be a planning meeting on January 13th to list and coordinate all of the tasks required for each area.
For now, learning the extent of your interest and availability will provide a good start. In some cases, we have some volunteers already committed, but there is space available for help in every category so if you don't see your name here, it wouldn't hurt to send a reminder.
If any of these areas look interesting, or if you have worked on them before and are available to do so again, please let me know. There's a lot of spaces to fill!
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION (name tags, maps, briefing information etc)
SET UP (bring displays, equipment etc the day before and arrive early on the 23rd to set up)
PUBLICITY (act as the speaker's "MARS go to" person, help with accommodation, logistics etc)
FOOD & KITCHEN (acquire food, prepare and sell at Eagle fest, volunteer food)
ADVERTISING (prepare press releases, etc)
HARRISON (two volunteers to take turns "being" and accompanying Harrison the Eagle on site)
CHILDREN'S (activities, monitoring, planning activities)
PHOTO CONTEST (count ballots, hang photos, accept entries)
SIGNAGE (plan and prepare)
AV EQUIPMENT (organize and trouble-shoot)
ADMISSION (collect fees, monitor cash)
DONATIONS / MEMBERSHIPS / RAFFLE (sales and cash)
MERCHANDISE SALES (sales and cash)
PICTURES WITH REG AND A RAPTOR (monitor and coordinate photos, print and sell photos)
FLOATERS (move around the festival and fill in where needed)
